The Game of Life
"Most consider life to be a struggle, but it really is just a game. However, this game of life cannot be played successfully without knowledge of the rules. Play this game as if your life depended on it because it does"
- J. Kyle Howard
Get in the "Game"
You have been sitting on the sidelines watching your other teammates play. In your mind, they are better players which is why you are watching from the sidelines. All of a sudden, the coach motions for you to get in the game. Here is your chance to finally show everyone that you have what it takes to be a winner. You step out onto the field and then realize that not only did you bring the wrong equipment, you haven't practiced. Most importantly, to your detriment, you haven't learned the rules of this game. You flop in front of thousands of people and vow never to try again.
This is an extreme view of why we don't seem to understand how to play this "game of life". It amazes me that we spend at least thirteen years in school, yet no one teaches us how to play this game. Why don't our parents teach us? Well, surprisingly still, they were taught the very same lessons that we were. It is disheartening to think that our school system has not changed in over 150 years, but that's another story.
the "Rule" book
So where do I find and what exactly are the rules to this game of life? The Old and New Testaments give the answers to those questions. I use this reference not from a religious viewpoint but as a source that's familiar to you and you can easily check the facts as to what I am giving you here.
It is stated in the "Rule" book with clarity that the great "Game of life" is the game of Giving and Receiving.
"Whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap". This means that whatever you send out in word or deed, will return to you; what you give, you will receive.
If you give love, you will receive love and the same goes for hate; if you give encouragement, you will receive encouragement and the same goes for discouragement; if you give honesty, you will receive honesty and the same goes for dishonesty; if you cheat, you will be cheated; if you lie, you will be lied to. Pretty simple stuff, huh?
Your Imagination Faculties
I·mag·ine v 1: form a mental image of something that is not present or that is not the case
Have you ever heard an adult tell a child to stop "daydreaming" and pay attention? That is some of the worst advice any one can give to another and here is why. Every (and I do mean every) creation has begun in the imagination.
"Keep thy heart (or imagination) with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life". This simply means that what a man imagines sooner or later shows up in his life. The life that you are living right now is a direct result of previous imaginations. I know that sometimes honesty can be a bitter pill to swallow, but this truth will definitely set you free. The bottom line is this, the rule works whether you believe it or not just like gravity. You either let life happen to you or you happen to it. You either affect life or let life (thoughts and imaginations of others) affect you.
So you see, to successfully play the "game" of life, you must also train your imagination faculty. You can train your imagination faculty to bring into your life every righteous desire of your heart - health, wealth, love, friends, whatever you truly desire.
But How?
I am so glad you asked. Let's play the game of life and take your imagination to the next level. Please proceed with an open mind.
